Not only will the new Grand Vitara be a rebranded Urban Cruiser Hyryder. But, it is also likely to replace the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. Tomorrow, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will go on sale. But, the company has already confirmed some of its features with teaser photos.
The Grand Vitara will have both strong and mild hybrid engine options, just like the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Bookings have already begun for both engine options at all Nexa showrooms or online for a small fee of $11,000.
The Grand Vitara will have the same 1.5-liter Atkinson Cycle engine and synchronous AC motor that are in the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. This is confirmed by the “Hybrid” badge. The engine makes 91 hp and 122 Nm of torque on its own, and the e-motor makes 79 hp and 141 Nm of torque. An e-CVT gearbox will take care of the transmission.
Standard on the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will be a front-wheel drivetrain. But, the mild hybrid will also be available with Suzuki’s AllGrip all-wheel-drive system (basically AWD). There are also four ways to drive with this system: auto, sand, snow, and lock.
Headlights and taillights with LEDs
The front and back of the Grand Vitara will have LED headlights and taillights, similar to the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, but there seem to be some differences.
First of all, the front LED DRLs on the Grand Vitara will have more than one slot, unlike the Hyryrder, which has a smooth, continuous style. On the back of the trunk, the rear tail lights will be join. And, the name “Grand Vitara” will be written on the back.
Panorama, first segment Sunroof
Maruti Suzuki has also confirmed through a teaser video that the Grand Vitara will be the first model in its line to have a panoramic sunroof. So, Maruti Suzuki won’t skimp on this front in terms of features. Like the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, we can also expect it to have ventilated front seats, AC vents in the back, a large infotainment touchscreen, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, etc.
Price and Rivalry
The prices for both the Urban Cruiser Hyryder and the Grand Vitara before they leave the showroom have not yet been set. But it does compete with other compact SUVs like the MG Astor, Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Kia Seltos, and VW Taigun.
There are no hybrid engine options for any of these competitors. So, both the Urban Cruiser Hyryder and the Grand Vitara are likely to cost more than their competitors. If they have this green powertrain. With a mild-hybrid drivetrain, you can expect it to cost between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 18 lakh.
